What are the two types of epidemiological studies and how are they classified?
Experimental and observational studies. Experimental studies are those in which the researcher studies the effects of exposure or absence of a certain factor, deciding which elements of the research will be exposed or not. Observational studies are those in which information is collected, and the experimental method is not used, as there is no intervention by the researcher, observations are made over time and allow the conclusion of the cause.
Experimental and descriptive studies. Experimental studies are those in which the researcher studies the effects of exposure or absence of a certain factor, deciding which elements of the research will be exposed or not. Descriptive studies describe a health situation or condition in relation to time, place, and individual, and can relate, for example, to the distribution of the disease in the population in relation to sex, age, location, or other characteristics.
